Cheech & Chong needed a single brand system that could carry their legacy into a modern cannabis market without losing the humor that made them iconic. Unifying more than forty years of visual history required a coherent system that honored their past while working for today's cannabis consumer.
The identity needed to feel like all of Cheech & Chong's past marks at once, rather than a reinvention. As lifelong collaborators and cultural icons, their faces became the natural focal point. Color carried equal weight, drawing from 1970s Chicano aesthetics and balancing bright and muted hues to feel familiar and current.
As the brand expanded, Cheech & Chong needed a system that could move quickly while remaining consistent across teams and channels. From that foundation, we created a system spanning logos, digital marketing, retail environments, and merchandising. AI-assisted content generation allowed campaigns to move quickly, while Canva templates gave internal teams the freedom to create without breaking the brand.
The final system supports Cheech & Chong as a multi-generational brand, allowing it to evolve while staying rooted in the inclusive community that defined it.
